In seeking to provide co – operatives and umbrella organizations with the most imperative IT knowledge to increase their competitiveness in self - help approaches, the it@coops project was able to produce an aggregate of 60 co – operative IT Specialists and trainers from Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand representing AWCF affiliates from 32 primary co – operatives, three national umbrella co – operatives and 11 non – government organizations promoting co – operatives by the second quartet of 2006. These co – operative IT Specialists and trainers are equipped with the basic and advance IT technical know how, skills in software training and gender awareness to meet the needs of co – operatives. As co – operative IT Specialists and trainers specialize in a particular IT area such as website development & design, database management, e – security, etc. They are expected to conduct IT training and transfer IT learning to co – operative members thus forming and expanding the pool of co – operative IT experts in respective national umbrella organizations. Moreover, they are expected to assist co – operatives in setting up Business Development Centers (BDCs) and virtual networks that benefit even the marginalized people in community. Nowadays, the co – operative IT Specialists of Thailand create the new generation to fulfill IT resource pool to co – operative movement. There are 20 IT Specialists and 14 IT Trainers as the roll out of the 1st batch.
